FBR Recruitment Shortlisted for Best Company to Work for at the REC Awards.

FBR Recruitment Shortlisted for Best Company to Work for at the REC Awards. We’re proud to announce that FBR Recruitment has been shortlisted for the REC Awards’ Best Company to Work For category for organisations with under 20 employees. This recognition is a true reflection of the hard work, dedication, and positive culture our team brings every day. Being shortlisted is an incredible achievement, and it motivates us to continue nurturing an environment where our people can thrive.

At FBR, our vision is simple: to be the business of choice for both clients and candidates. We achieve this by building long-term relationships through honesty, integrity, and a consultative approach. Our core values of trust, flexibility, community, and people-first service shape everything we do, from how we place candidates to how we work together and give back to the community.

Last year, we raised £2,500 for Abby’s Heroes, and this year we have already smashed our £4,000 fundraising target for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, with more exciting charity events still to come. These initiatives reflect our belief that a great workplace is one that also gives back.

We believe in empowering our team to grow. Every consultant receives tailored training, clear career pathways, and monthly check-ins that focus on professional and personal goals. We actively support external development through recognised certifications, including REC training, Mental Health First Aid, and NEBOSH for those specialising in health and safety recruitment.

Our collaborative culture ensures everyone has a voice. Team members are involved in shaping business strategy, improving internal processes, and planning charity events. Their ideas are listened to and often implemented, creating a sense of ownership and pride across the business. As one consultant says, “This is an incredible place to work. The culture embraces diversity, empowers people, and encourages fresh thinking. There is no micromanagement, just recognition for those who go the extra mile.”

Recognition and celebration are key to our culture. Team lunches, office treats, birthday celebrations, summer BBQs, and charity events like our golf day ensure our people feel valued and appreciated. Flexible working arrangements, private healthcare, generous holiday policies, and volunteer opportunities further show our commitment to a people-first workplace.

Our employees often highlight the unique combination of professionalism and warmth that makes FBR so special. As one team member explains, “After 20 years in recruitment, I have never worked anywhere like this. The values of honesty, integrity, and hard work are lived every day. People feel valued, supported, and inspired. It is a company with heart.”

Another adds, “FBR encourages everyone to bring their whole selves to work. You are trusted to do your job and supported when challenges arise. The leadership genuinely cares about your growth and wellbeing, which makes all the difference.”

“I have never felt so supported in my career. Every success is celebrated and every challenge is met with encouragement. The sense of community here is remarkable and it motivates me to give my best every day.”

Being shortlisted for the Best Company to Work For award is a huge honour and reflects the commitment, passion, and teamwork that make FBR a special place to work. We are proud of our people, proud of our culture, and excited to continue building a workplace where everyone feels empowered to thrive, grow, and make a difference.

FBR & HIOWAA Charity Golf Day 2025: A Day of Sunshine, Swings & Support

Friday the 13th might be unlucky for some, but not for us! On Friday 13th June, FBR hosted its annual Charity Golf Day in support of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA) and it turned out to be an unforgettable day of sunshine, competition, and community spirit.

Held at the beautiful Bramshaw Golf Course, the event brought together 72 golfers from a fantastic mix of businesses, along with some well-known faces including Matt Ritchie, Guy Whittingham, Paul Jones, and Shane Long.

A Sunny Start with a Meaningful Message

The day teed off with networking, bacon rolls, and raffle ticket sales, creating a buzzing atmosphere from the very beginning. Before everyone hit the fairways, Natalie from HIOWAA delivered an insightful talk about the incredible work the charity does. Many were surprised to learn that HIOWAA is entirely publicly funded, a powerful reminder of just how important days like this really are.

The Venue: Bramshaw Golf Course

Bramshaw’s scenic fairways were in top condition, though some of us definitely found more rough than green. There were whispers of wild deer sightings… but most people were just startled by Jordan’s dramatic bunker meltdown on Hole 7. Between towering trees and sneaky bunkers, Bramshaw was the ideal course, beautiful, challenging, and perfect for blaming the terrain when your shot ended up in a different postcode.

The Charity Cause: Swinging for Good

Though the competition was fierce, the real winner was HIOWAA. After a hard-fought day under the sun, golfers returned to the clubhouse for a well-earned meal, before the raffle and live auction got underway.

We’re pleased to share that, through raffle tickets, the auction and generous donations, we raised £3,200, bringing us within touching distance of our £4,000 annual fundraising target for HIOWAA.
That’s enough to fund one life-saving emergency mission.
Thank you to everyone who gave so generously. Your support helps keep this vital, lifesaving service in the air.

On behalf of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, our patients and those who love them, thank you for taking part in the FBR golf day. Your collective generosity has raised around enough to fund a life-saving mission. Wherever life takes you next, you can always be proud that you saved someone’s life that day- and as that person continues to make memories, they will always be grateful for your support.

Why This Charity is So Important to Us

Supporting HIOWAA resonates deeply with our company values and community focus for two key reasons:

  • Safety and Emergency Response: The air ambulance service is directly connected to the construction industry’s emphasis on safety and emergency preparedness. Since construction projects often involve inherent risks, partnering with an organisation that provides life-saving services aligns perfectly with our commitment to the safety of workers and the wider community.
  • Local Impact: Operating primarily in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, supporting a local charity with a clear regional focus strengthens our company’s ties to the community. It gives us the opportunity to contribute to critical, life-saving services that benefit not only local residents but also the workers we place and support every day.

With Special Thanks to Our Incredible Donors:
We couldn’t have done it without the amazing companies and individuals who donated prizes:

FBR's Charity of the Year 2025 is the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

FBR's Charity of the Year 2025 is the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air AmbulanceAt FBR Recruitment, we believe in supporting causes that make a real difference. This year, we’re thrilled to announce that our Charity of the Year is the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. So, why did we choose them?

Why We Chose Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance

  1. Safety and Emergency Response
Safety is paramount, especially in industries like construction, where risks are a constant consideration. The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance is a vital resource in providing emergency care and fast medical transport for those in critical situations. With construction workers and the wider community in mind, partnering with a service that directly impacts emergency preparedness and response aligns perfectly with our own values of safety and care.
  2. Local Impact
We are proud to operate in the heart of Hampshire and supporting a local charity with a regional focus is an important way we can give back to the communities we serve. The air ambulance is there when people need it most, and by supporting them, we’re helping ensure that this life-saving service remains available to residents and workers across our area.
  3. Employee Engagement
Our team is eager to get involved in charitable initiatives as much as possible, and we’re excited to collaborate with Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. They’ve been incredibly enthusiastic about working with us and have visited several times to engage with our staff and help plan events. We have a CPR training session scheduled for March, where our employees will learn valuable lifesaving skills. We’re also planning a visit to their airbase to gain a better understanding of their work, meet the team, and see the process in action. We’re truly grateful for these opportunities and believe they will not only enhance our connection with this fantastic charity but also strengthen our fundraising efforts.

Our Fundraising Plan for the Year
To help raise as much as we can for this incredible charity, we’ve got a range of exciting events and initiatives lined up throughout the year:

  • Charity Golf Day
We’re kicking things off with the first FBR charity golf day, packed with games like Beat the Pro, Win the Wheelbarrow, a Prize Auction and the HIOWAA will even be bringing along their own helicopter stimulator. It’s sure to be a great day out, with plenty of opportunities to have fun while supporting a fantastic cause!
  • Charity Race Day at Thruxton
In September, we’ll be back for another Charity Race Day at Thruxton! It’s always a thrilling event, and this year, we’ll be adding something extra special, a tour of the airbase! Since the air ambulance service is so close to us, this is the perfect chance to learn more about the incredible work they do and see the operations up close.
  • Employee Challenges and Office Initiatives
Our team is going all in, taking on their own challenges and participating in a variety of office initiatives throughout the year. From sponsored events to friendly competitions, everyone is eager to do their bit for the cause.
  • Full Team Walk
One of the most exciting initiatives is our Full Team Walk, where we’ll be stepping out together to support the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. It’s going to be a great way to build team spirit while raising money for a life-saving cause.

Our Fundraising Goal: £4000 and Beyond
Last year, with our previous Charity of the Year, Abby’s Heroes, we smashed our goal of £2500, raising an incredible amount for their worthy cause. This year, we’re aiming higher with a fundraising goal of £4000 for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. We’re passionate about raising even more in the years to come, and we’re excited to see how much we can achieve together as a team and give back to causes that need it.

If you’d like to contribute or get involved in any of our upcoming events, we’d love to hear from you. Every donation counts, and we’re committed to making this our most successful fundraising year yet. At FBR, we believe in more than just building construction careers; we believe in building communities and making a positive impact in the world around us. As part of our commitment to foster a culture of giving within our organisation, we are delighted to announce Abby’s Heroes as our Charity of the Year for 2024.

Abbys Heroes: A Beacon of hope for Children Battling Cancer:
Abbys Heroes originated in honour of a courageous young girl called Abby, who valiantly battled cancer from 2013. During her fight, Abby went through extensive treatment including 23 rounds of chemotherapy, 50 days of radiotherapy, as well as stem cell harvesting and surgery. But in 2014, Abby was declared in remission and resumed her education and cherished hobbies.

Sadly, the cancer resurfaced towards the end of 2014. Faced with the limitations of current research, Abby’s medical team found themselves without further viable options and she tragically passed away on the 29th of May, 2016. In response to this profound loss, the charity was established to honour her memory and support children and families in similar situations.

Founded with a mission to provide financial, practical, and emotional assistance, they have become a beacon of hope for those navigating the difficult journey of paediatric cancer.

Why Abby’s Heroes?
Choosing Abby’s Heroes as our Charity of the Year aligns with our core values of compassion, community, and making a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Opting for this smaller, local charity allows us to make a meaningful impact on raising awareness for their cause, while also enabling us to directly observe and be part of the tangible positive changes taking place within our community.

We are excited to contribute to the incredible work Abby’s Heroes does on a daily basis.

Our Commitment:
Throughout the year, FBR will commit to supporting Abby’s Heroes through various initiatives, fundraisers and volunteer opportunities. We also aim to raise awareness around the crucial role that organisations like Abby’s Heroes play in providing support to families affected by childhood cancer.

How you can get involved:
We have set up a Just Giving page with a fundraising target for the year of £2,500, we invite employees, clients, candidates and the community to join us in supporting Abby’s Heroes. Whether it’s making a donation, participating in fundraising events, or volunteering your time, every contribution makes a significant impact on the lives of children battling cancer and their families.

Stay tuned for updates on our social media channels and company newsletters to learn more about the upcoming events and initiatives. A few of these being a fire walk, abseiling the Spinnaker Tower and the New Forest Marathon.

Together, we can build a better future for these brave children and their families.

Closing thoughts:
At FBR, we are excited about the opportunity to make a positive difference through our partnership with Abby’s Heroes. By working together, we can build a legacy of compassion, support, and hope for those facing the toughest battles.

Thank you for joining us on this meaningful journey as we construct not only careers but also a brighter and more compassionate future for our community.
