Job Description
Our client, a privately owned residential developer are looking for head of Planning to join the team to help accelerate their growth plans. Currently with an output of around 200 units per year, they are looking double that within the next five years. Job role:
A successful applicant will be a keen Leader of the Planning Team and will manage activities in relation to all aspects of promoting sites and achieving planning permissions.
A successful applicant will ensure that they align their job role with departmental strategies and changing business dynamics or goals of the Business, to positively influence the progression and growth of the company.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Excellent experience and knowledge of planning process, law, and regulations.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of the deliverability of permissions.
- Ability to problem resolve matters arising.
- Attention to detail.
- Works collaboratively with a diverse range of people.
- Excellent communication skills – both oral and written.
- A degree in town planning or similar subject.
- Qualified to RTPI or MRTPI.
- Driving licence.
Role Requirements:
- Conduct appropriate research and provide advice to inform site purchases, promotions and planning applications.
- Instruct and manage consultant teams, ensuring consultants perform in the best interests of the business and fees are diligently managed and monitored.
- Manage the submission of planning applications ensuring permissions are commercial and deliverable.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external customers.
- Attend planning committee meetings and other external meetings to represent the Company.
- Liaise with colleagues in other Departments to understand all necessary aspects and needs for operational development and provide advice to colleagues with regards to the progression of sites through planning.
- Timely and accurate reporting to the Head of Planning as required.
- Advise on general planning matters and inform colleagues of relevant changes in National and local planning.
- Organise and maintain office work systems including ensuring that computer records are accurate and up to date.
- Be personally responsible for continuous professional development, ensuring that he/she remains fully skilled and trained and effective in the post.
- Other duties as relevant to the purpose of maintaining and promoting the business’s planning function.
