Job Description

Estimator Required. A respected regional building contractor with a rich history of delivering new build and refurbishment projects across the Hampshire region is in need for a full time Estimator. Their projects are quite diversified ranging in value from £250,000 to £4.5 million.

As an Estimator you will form part of a key Estimating team responsible for supporting the commercial input across a large portfolio including small works to their main works side which typically include hi-end one off housing, listed builds, country estates & D&B.

Role:
  • You will be required to prepare tenders for a full range of works, from small to major works on commercial projects.
  • To ensure the estimating function provides a full commercial contribution to the organisation.
  • Estimate the costs for tenders.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Support value engineering.
  • Take off and build up own rates and prices.
  • Support the process of assessing, preparing (including post-tender activities), validating, adjudication and final submission of tenders on time and to the required quality.
  • You will be working under a lead estimator however working on own projects and being at a self sufficient level.
  • To further support the commercial relationships with customers, consultants, contractors, suppliers and subcontractors during the tender and processes. In particular to: build and maintain a portfolio of suppliers and subcontracts to support the tendering process and where applicable obtain ‘Bills of Quantities’ identify and coordinate suppliers and sub contractors.
You:
  • Appropriate academic and construction qualifications, detailed knowledge of construction in both new and refurbishment work.
  • The candidate must be able to confidently communicate with all members of the pre-construction team, directors, clients and consultants and importantly be able to work to strict deadlines.
