Job Description

One of our long standing interior fit out clients has a need for an experienced Head of Finance.

  • Basically the role will be to manage the Group’s Project Finance team of quantity surveyors and estimators, review and analyse cost plans to check details before submission.
  • Mentor and manage the project finance team including career development, performance management and one to ones and ensure profitability on all projects.
  • Build strong relationships with Clients and sub-contractors and focus procurement of robust contractor list.
  • Analyse and negotiate sub-contractor tenders before orders are placed, making sure new sub-contractors are appropriately vetted for conformity to Group insurances and health and safety policies.
  • Place sub-contractor orders making sure correct contractual documents in place.
  • Check through cost-value reconciliation reports and be accountable to Directors for accurate reporting for Group’s management accounts.
  • Make sure client valuations are carried out on time or an agreed cashflow forecast is put in place prior to starting on site.
  • Make sure client invoices are raised on time and in line with valuation/cashflow.
  • Actively follow each project on site and make sure change control is handled appropriately for both client and sub-contractors.
  • Continually look for ways to drive profitability on each project
  • Monitor health and safety issues on site and notify project management team and report back to other HOD’s / Directors.
  • Identify commercial or technical risks which may affect a project throughout its time in the Contract phase.
  • Develop client relationships and maintain existing relationships.
  • Manage the project finance team including 121s, performance management and training requirements.
Role Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in commercial Design and Build fit-out.
  • Relevant degree or HNC/HND educated or QBE.
  • Proven experience in successful leading, managing and developing a team.
  • Track record in competent numerical skills within similar role.
  • Competent in Microsoft Excel / Microsoft Office software programmes.
  • Ability to read CAD drawings as a basis for developing accurate cost/estimation documents.
  • Established track record of yielding high profits in Design and Build projects.
  • Previous experience building strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Accomplished presentation skills with ability to discuss complex financial and construction queries.
  • Good knowledge of JCT contracts and current building regulations.
  • Excellent financial management experience.
  • First class internal management, communication and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to travel to site and clients across the UK.
